How to e-verify Income Tax Return by login to Internet


Below are the steps mentioned to verify income tax return using Electronic verification with the help of Electronic Verification code (EVC) generated through Net Banking.

Note: This method can be used when either the taxpayer’s income is above Rs. 5 lacs or there is a refund.

Step 1: The first step is to log in to your Net banking account.

Step 2: Once you get logged in, locate the option to generate EVC for Income Tax Return Filing. Click on that option and generate the EVC to e-verify.

Note that this facility will be available in only few banks. Presently, the banks are in the process of implementing this mechanism.

Banks which offer this facility include Allahabad Bank, Andhra Bank, Axis Bank Ltd, Bank of Baroda, Bank of India, Bank of Maharashtra, Canara Bank, Central Bank of India, City Union Bank Ltd., Corporation Bank-Corporate Banking, Corporation Bank- Retail Banking, DENA Bank, HDFC Bank, ICICI Bank, IDBI Bank, Indian Bank, Indian Overseas Bank, Kotak Mahindra Bank, Oriental Bank of Commerce, Punjab National Bank, State Bank of India, Syndicate Bank, UCO Bank, Union Bank of India, United Bank of India, Vijaya Bank.

Step 3: Next, login to Income Tax Department e-filing website (

Step 4: Click on ‘e-file’->’e-verify return’

Step 5: Click on ‘e-verify’. You will see three options if you have already filed the return and the same has not been verified yet.

Step 6: Since, you already have EVC, so please select ‘Option 1- I already have an EVC to e-verify my return’.

Step 7: Enter the EVC that you received in your mobile number and email ID in the provided text box and click “Submit”. After this, there is no action required.

Step 8: On next screen, you will see success message. Please download the acknowledgement and with this the electronic verification of your e-filing using Electronic Verification Code (EVC) generated through Net Banking gets completed.
